FEATURED PAGE - Moon pie designs

Visit my fb page by clicking the logo above

My name is nici clark, I started crafting many years ago as a hobby, always playing with ideas for cards and plaques to give to relatives .

Around 2 years ago I started thinking of taking it more seriously, and creating different types items, not just cards and plaques but it wasn't until last year I gained the courage to start a Facebook page.

Now I have a page called moon pie designs and I make lots, for example free standing letters, fairy doors and tooth fairy items to name a few, and my page is slowly taking shape !

My hopes for my crafting future are to expand and just keep doing what I love !

'FEATURED PAGE' - Busy Bean Designs

Busy Bean Designs

Busy Bean Designs is a business I started up firstly with jewellery, but as my imagination started to wander, my skills started to expand as well and over the years, I have made felt decorations, bags, wrapped beads, tie-dyed bits and bobs, resin, polymer clay, cushions, wirework, candles: all sorts!

Busy Bean started off as Em'Brace jewellery about 5-6 years ago (when I was about 11) but last year, over the summer, I decided to rename as I wanted to have a bit more of a variety of products.

I'm currently at college and one of my subjects is textiles - I'm planning on using some of my new skills for a couple of products! I'm also hoping to go to university to do silversmithing/goldsmithing!

Along with internet tutorials and courses for various crafts aswell!) So watch the page for all sorts of new bits and bobs!

FEATURED PAGE - Frankly It's Cornish Maid

FEATURED PAGE

Hello! My name is Michelle Lugg and I'm a married mum with a 7 year old son. I have a big love of yarn and colour and marry the two to create bespoke crochet blankets of all sizes.

As a child my mum taught me to knit but I always longed to be able to crochet but because I'm left handed I couldn't make sense of it!!! After my son was born I started knitting A LOT but I still wanted to crochet so I decided to give it a go again but this time right handed and, as they say, the rest is history!!!

Crochet really clicked for me and I started making and designing small gifts for friends and family. In December 2013 a friend persuaded me to sell some of my crochet at my son's school's Christmas Craft Fayre which I did and I was totally blown away by the response to my work. I came away with LOTS of orders. In January 2014 I decided to see if there was a market for my crochet online so I started my Facebook page Frankly It's Cornish Maid (the Frank in Frankly is after my great uncle Frank whose cottage I now live in!).

As my yarn obsession grew it began to take over our cottage so my carpenter husband restored our summerhouse and it has become my craft room/haven!

The thing I love to make the most is blankets! I love everything about them. As you will see I love to create COLOURFUL blankets. When I first started Frankly I hoped that at some point I would be able to just concentrate on making blankets for people and I am so lucky that that is what I now do. I believe that the passion and love that I put into them shines through and this has enabled me to make a place for myself and Frankly in the blanket world both here in the UK and internationally!!

I often get asked how I started, and it's not a very exciting story but a similar one I suspect to many other crafters!! I had always had a love of sewing, passed down from my Mother who made curtains for a living from home, and I started on my Grandmother's antique treadle Singer sewing machine!! It was a matter of time before I was making lavender bags and dolls clothes etc etc!! I learnt how to make beaded jewellery whilst I was at college, as there was an excellent bead shop in the city I was studying in and they made fantastic, cheap birthday presents for friends! I've carried on "playing" with both these types of crafting since then.

My business came about the Christmas before I started my page. I was Secretary for my children's school PTA and offered very last minute to make hand crafted tree decorations, crackers and brooches for the Christmas Fair as they were very low on things to sell!! Everything sold out and I was approached by several Mums to make more that Christmas!!! Since then my business has grown slowly, and I'm really proud to say that I now have over 19,000 likers on my page!!!

My creations have really evolved since I first started, and now my main business comes from bespoke, personalised makes which I absolutely adore working on as each order is different, and some are requested for lovely Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas and Wedding presents, which really make me smile!!! My most popular creation at the moment is my Family Tree Canvas Pictures, I sew directly onto the artist's canvas with pretty materials and felt and hand stitch wordings and names onto some of the leaves. Ive been really pleased with how popular they've become!!

I work in various different types of materials, and am moving into mixed media now. Felt and luxury fabrics feature a lot in my designs, and I love using Art beads in my jewellery work - fabulous handmade, gorgeous beads that make each piece I make unique!!

Builiding my page has been hard work but a labour of love, but I absolutely love chatting with my customers and being able to help them create beautiful and original gifts, homeware and keepsakes! I am so proud of how far I've come, but i've still got big plans for the future!! I now have an Etsy shop which I am just about to fill for the New Year and I can be found on Instagram, Twitter, Tsu and I'm trying to figure out Pinterest too!! So pop over, have a look around and please don't be shy, I love being approached for one off designs and commissions and Im always happy to help!!! xxxxx
